Our
final Show for 2002 is ……
“Move
Over Mrs Markham”
by
Ray Cooney and John Chapman
Directed
by Ian Rigney
|
Phillip Markham, sedate children’s book publisher, is used to the bed-hopping ways of his senior partner Henry and reluctantly agrees to the use of his flat over the office for another of Henry’s hot dates. The only problem is Mrs Markham has promised the flat to her friend for a fling – who just happens to be Henry’s long suffering wife Linda. To make matters more of a mess, the Markhams’ flamboyant interior designer, who has a passion for floral bidets and mauve, low–level toilets, is planning his own rendezvous with the Swiss au pair girl in the Markhams’ bed. This
Ray Cooney play has all the ingredients for a classic romp as little
white lies snowball to unmanageable whoppers to cover up the truth
from an unannounced visit by children’s book writer Miss Smythe –
middle aged, moral and conservative lady of immense talent and wealth,
who’s books sell millions and is out of contract with her old publisher
and seeking a respectable new
one ! Ian Rigney |

Nunsense
![]() A scene from Nunsense |
Our last production “Nunsense” was well received. Our congratulations to all concerned on a great production. These are some extracts from the Messenger Press Review …….. “Kate
Barnes is delightful as the finger-punching Reverend Mother..… As
street-wise Mary Robert Ann, Megan Humphries is holier than thou belting
out tunes and making the most of her role..….. Beverley Koch bounces
off Barnes nicely as the Mistress of the Novies...… Co-directors Barry
Hill and Rosie Aust milk the laughs for all they’re worth, filling
St Jude’s stage with ample visual gags….. Miraculous mayhem to keep
you smiling”. |
